Storm

A recent piece i did for a friend's birthday.

Haven't drawn Storm too much, outside of a couple of ketch cards for Marvel. I studied copic marker work from a few of the ever awesome Adam Hughes' drawings to do the cloud background and some of the shadings. I don't know how that man does it (and so easy at that!)

Power Girl? Again?!

More Andromeda

Another commission i did of Andromeda:

Andromeda!

Here are some commissions that i did for the Busty Superhero Chick blog.

The story about this one above is that the character, Andromeda, has the DC Comics' superhero, The Atom, jumping from out of her cleavage. It's a reference to a Justice League Unlimited episode "Dark Heart" where he did the same thing with Wonder Woman.

A sketchcard that was used as the profile pic for the blog.

The Girl of Power!

I can't believe that i hadn't posted this like a year ago! I must be slipping in my old age! Here's a drawing of my all time favorite heroine, Power Girl. I think it's about time to do an updated pic of PeeGee, don't ya think?

Look Before You Leap!

An oooooooooooold drawing from 2007 that i did a joke for a friend.
I think it still holds true to this day! LOL

The Cat in Black

A sketch of Black cat that i did today while i was sick in bed today.

America's Still Beautiful

To keep with the patriotic theme today...

America the Beautiful

Emma Frost

A colored sketch of the astonishing Emma Frost from the Astonishing X-Men series. This costume, in particular, is from the Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis series by Warren Ellis and Kaare Andrews. LOL I can't wait for the cosplayers out there to get a hold of that design. Truly awesome!

The Black Falcon

Another City of Heroes commission. This one is of Black Falcon. I have to tell ya...these City of Heroes commissions are fun as hell! So much creativity and orgininality in these characters. I could do these all day and all night. lol

Also, if you are interested in a commission, send me a email at bigchrisgallery@aol.com

Pourquoi?

Trying to get back into the habit of using actual people for references again. Yeah, i'm a bit rusty, but thats what practice is for, right? This one is of the WWE Diva Maryse! What a great heel she is!

Amanda Shae

My Lil' Mermaid

The Sketchcard Initiative

Cherubae

Another character from my childhood. This one is of Cherubae, the intergalactic goddess from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comics from Archie. Yeah, she's pretty obscure and only appeared in a handful of TMNT books, but i've always had a affinity for her. Loved her design and colors!

Hottest of Topics!

My girlfriend sent me a bunch of clothing and style references a while back and i thought that i might put some of them to use. Each of these pics had different styles that the "kids" these days are wearing. So, i thought that i would put some together (in a mix and match type fashion) and see how it turns out. Here's the first of many to come in the near future....

A Fairy! A blue one even!

You guessed it! A blue fairy!

Ruby's Lock and Key

Yeah, it's been a long time since i did a colored pic. My amazing and ever loving girlfriend has been on my case to do more drawing, since i had been slacking so much in the last month. So, to get things going, here's a drawing of Ruby!

Warm ups!

Two rough, warm up sketches of my beautiful girlfriend, Tracey!

The Drowning of Ophelia

(Orignally posted on Sunday, November 8, 2009)
Drowned Ophelia from Brutal Legend.

What an awesome character from an awesome game.

I drew this about a month ago, but never colored it. I tried something a little bit different by basically using the airbrush tool for her skin instead of just using flat shades and gradients. Slowly, but surely, i'm trying to import new things into my art, to get out of my "comfort zone" hopefully. Who knows...maybe there might even be backgrounds in my drawings in the near future? lol

(Actually, this drawing did have a background planned, but i admit it. I got lazy AND my hand started giving me issues a little bit. One thing I have a BIG problem with is finishing a drawing all in one sitting. I know that I probably shouldn't, but i just get all wrapped up in it and excited to be producing a new piece, especially since they have been few and far between lately)

Renet is why i'm here today....well sort of.

Years ago, back in 1989, i had never read a comic book. Never even picked one up at that. My older brother read them when i was little, but i was never really interested in actually collecting them. I think the old 80's cartoons like Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends and Super Friends kind of spoiled me, as i felt that all comics should be like that.....and they weren't. Late that year, i started getting into the phenomenon that was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I remember in the fall of '89, i traveled to my first comic shop, just out of curiosity and saw something that truly caught my eye: the original Eastman and Laird Ninja Turtles comics that were in black and white. I was just completely off struck by what i saw: They all wore red headbands, cursed, killed, had tiny tails, and didn't eat pizza! There was no Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, crazy mutant monsters, Foot Solider robots, or crazy aliens from Dimension X. Plus, the book was bloody as all hell, for its time. Needless to say, i was hooked.

These comics were the books that opened the door to me for reading other titles. Without them, i would have never started reading Marvel or DC books (or collecting for that matter). One character, specifically, that i've always wanted to draw from that series was Renet, the time travelling apprentice from TMNT #8. Though she has only been in a handful of issues, i have always loved her design and character. I was completely stoked when i saw that she was included in the 2003 TMNT cartoon revamp years back.

Well, here's my take on her! Enjoy!

A plethora of sketches!

Evil-Lyn

Two-Face

Elektra from The Teen Force
(gotta love old Hanna-Barbera)

Count Chocula

Let the obscureness continue!

More sketch card requests!

By extra special request, Penfold from Danger Mouse!

An obscure one...this one is of The Wicked Queen from Michael Jackson's Captain EO. Most people i know don't have a clue who this is, but hopefully, Disney will take care of that by putting Captain EO back in their theme parks this year. I know that Disneyland is already jumping on it. Now it's time for everyone else to get on that Captain EO bus and bring back that masterpiece (i'm looking at you, Epcot! I'd even take Hollywood Studios!)

Next is Evil-Lyn from the live action 1980's Masters of the Universe movie. Most people don't remember this movie staring Dolph Lundgren and a young Courtney Cox (and for good reason...it really wasn't that good at all!) The only good thing about it was that Meg Foster looked pretty badass as Evil-Lyn. I plan on doing an sketch card of Evil-Lyn from the original He-Man/Masters of the Universe in the near future though.

Finally, it's Catra from She-Ra, Princess of Power! I've ALWAYS wanted to draw her because i felt she was a pretty bad ass character. Pretty much anyone involved with The Evil Horde on that show were awesome villains. For this one though, i changed Catra's features a little bit and made them less angular and "pointy". She almost has an Angelina Jolie/Megan Fox look to her now, because i made her features a bit more full.

Queen of the Fairies!

The Sorceress

"In the year twoooo thooousaaand.............and ten"

I just wanted to give a special thanks to those out there that continue to support me and my art. It's probably the one thing that I'm most grateful for in life, so a million thanks go out to each and every one of you! I really appreciate it and here's to making 2010 a stellar year!

Medusa

Ah ha! I fooled ya! There's one more sketch card for 2009. This one is of the magnificent Medusa from the Inhumans:

Last of the 2009 Sketch cards
